IWAS Athletics European Open
For the first time in Stadskanaal: The IWAS Athletics European Open!
The international association IWAS (International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation) has decided to let Stadskanaal organize the European Open 2010! The event will take place from June 2 until June 4, with a great finale on the 6th of June 2010! This Open IWAS European Championships is for amputees and wheelchair athletes (classes 40 and 50) and is organized in the same period as the Nelli Cooman Games (link naar Nelli Cooman Games), which will take place on June 5. In the past few years the IWAS world series were held during the Nelli Cooman Games, this year it will be organized as the European Open.
The competition is an IPC approved competition. The results are valid for qualification purposes. There will be IPC officiating (TD, ITO’s, classifiers). The rules used are the IAAF competition rules, version 2010/2011 and the IPC rules and regulations 2010, published by IPC at February 22, 2010.
Combining classes, calculated by IPC point score is possible, depending the number of entries per class.


Both have set a world record during the Nelli Cooman Games. The European Open 2010 will be a sensational competition!
